Synthetic resins are typified by acrylic resins and polyester resins, and are blended as the main component of paints and adhesives. The synthetic resin becomes a film with a three-dimensional crosslinked network structure by heating and baking together with the crosslinked component and the catalyst. It can be expected to improve the physical characteristics of the film such as hardness, chemical resistance, and weather resistance.
In such a thermosetting type curing system, a combination of a polyol component such as acrylic polyol or polyester polyol as the main component and a melamine-based or isocyanate-based component as a cross-linking component is generally used, and also an acid / epoxy-based curing system is used too.
In recent years, CO2, VOC reduction, and other environmental load reduction related to SDGs have been attracting worldwide attention in various industries. The above cross-linking components are recognized as harmful substances, and each company is studying a curing system to replace them.
For that reason, we also aimed at an “environmentally friendly low temperature curing system” and focused on a curing system that uses a transesterification reaction. Utilizing the monomer development technology, which is one of our core technologies, we have developed a special monomer suitable for transesterification reaction.
In this curing system, the structure of the ester part is the key. The first characteristic of the curing system we have developed is that it is friendly to people and the environment. It does not contain highly toxic or irritating substances in its constituents, nor does it generate similarly toxic or irritating substances from the curing process or the cured membrane. Furthermore, it is expected to solve problems such as existing curing such as low temperature curing.
